In the beautiful Ochoco Forest out side of Prineville Or.
This FREE clinic starts at 8:00 Friday morning. We have at least 3 speakers covering info you need to complete a ride. In the afternoon, we have Q and A session with ride mangers from around the region and a Mini Endurance ride.  Three miles with vet checks just like the real thing!  July 9th and 10th there will be a full day of endurance from a 10 mile trail ride to a 100 mile race. Something for everybody all three days. Bring your horse and join the fun.

Ranch Competitive Trail Challenge, and Saturday’s Big
Summit Trail and High Lakes Mountain Trail.

Brasada Ranch Competitive Trail Challenge/ACTHA
Entirely on private property, this ride showcases the beautiful acreage of Central Oregon`s premier resort facility; Brasada Ranch. The trail meanders past the championship golf course, dips in and out of fun hidden canyons, and climbs the foothills of nearby Powell Butte. The ride exhibits very typical high desert country and allows riders to access land otherwise off-limits. While the ride begins and ends on maintained wood chipped bridle paths, the mid portion follows some jeep tracks and does a bit of cross-country. The footing is appropriate for well conditioned barefoot horses, though there are some rocky sections.Entrants must be a member of ACTHA on or before July 20, 2011 in order to register for this event – visit ACTHA‘s website for more information.

Please note: This event is expected to fill to capacity, so please register early if you want to compete. Consider registering as a “Buddy Rider” to be part of the fun without the competition. Buddy Riders are unlimited on our ride. Check the ACTHA website for more details.

Big Summit Trail Competition
This is an all-breed trail competition with a few Mustang-only classes. BSTC will have all the traditional trail class obstacles with an educational and entertaining twist. This years educational focus is on the annual census taking methods used to find out just how many wild horses there actually are and whether or not the herds are genetically viable. Some of the census methods used will be incorporated into the Big Summit Trail such as finding hair samples for DNA testing, counting track to guestimate the number of horses moving in a band etc.
